Lee Moulson

Regional Head of Sales - South West

About Me:
I rode as an amateur jockey until I was 23, when I realised I was never going to be the next Tony McCoy. I wanted to do something that would make a difference and keep me close to racecourses, so I did a business management degree with a horseracing industry specialism, and that's when my career began to take shape. My first role for The Jockey Club was on a casual basis at Warwick racecourse whilst I was in university. I have now been at Cheltenham for 3 and a half years.

Favourite event at Cheltenham:
We were thrilled that our inaugural darts event in association with Modus Darts was so well attended, the atmosphere on the night was electric and it was great to witness members of the general public getting the opportunity to play some of the biggest names in the sport, at the same time raising money for our partners Rugby4Heroes.

Regional Conference & Events Manager – South West

About Me:
I have been working for the Jockey Club for just over 2 years. Cheltenham is my home town, even though I've travelled and lived in London, Manchester and New York, there’s no place like home! I grew up 5 minutes away from the course and always dreamed of working here, horse racing was a huge passion as a child as I love horses. I have my own horse a beautiful warmblood called Monty. We compete for fun at dressage, he’s a proper dressage diva, he definitely couldn't do the hill at Cheltenham! Before working for the Jockey Club, I worked at the BBC for 5 years as a production manager, moved into a sales & events role when I moved to Gloucester Rugby where I enjoyed 4 years before getting my dream job at Cheltenham as Regional C&E Manager.

Favourite event at Cheltenham:
My favourite event was the sporting icons dinner, as it was a Cheltenham Racecourse event, not a client, so we had artistic licence to do as we pleased. Finding the guests was not only enjoyable but I think we managed to put together a nice mix of sporting icons, the finished result was a hugely popular night, with dinner, good guests chatting candidly and delivering an entertaining enjoyable event that I’ve been asked many times if we are replicating.

About Me:
I have been working for the Jockey Club for 2½ years, I am from a small village in Warwickshire just outside of Stratford-Upon-Avon. I spent some time living in London & Portsmouth but my heart belongs in the countryside. I like cooking, being with friends and travelling. In the summer months you will often find me sipping Pimms in the local pub garden. I love being a part of the team at Cheltenham, and I look forward to welcoming you to our fantastic venue very soon!

Favourite event at Cheltenham:
The Nationwide Conference with 700 delegates in April 2014 – this was the first event that I confirmed since starting in November 2013 and as a result of great teamwork we have been able to secure a range of different events from them.

About Me:
I have been with the Jockey Club for 2½ years, I was born and raised in Cheltenham. My background has always been within sales and events, it definitely keeps me on my toes! I am very artistic, in my spare time I love to draw, create wood carvings and cook. I am also attempting to learn how to play the ukulele!

Favourite event at Cheltenham:
It has to be the True Believers Comic Exhibition, the atmosphere on the day was second to none. Year on year the event has grown and we have now secured the event for next year. Being part of a team that contributes to producing fantastic events makes my job so enjoyable.

About Me:
I have now been with the Jockey Club for a 1 and a half years, I’m originally from Northamptonshire and grew up in the middle of the country so the transition to Cheltenham to attend university felt natural to me. After falling in love with the town I decided to move here permanently. My background in events began at a wedding venue however I wanted to broaden my horizons and being at Cheltenham definitely gave me that opportunity. In my spare time I enjoy watching films, walking around Pittville Park and spending time with family.

Favourite Event at Cheltenham:
I love being at the forefront ready to greet guests as they arrive to live events such as the comedy shows we host in our Centaur Auditorium, the audience have such a great evening and you can feel it in the atmosphere.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
